Peppery Watercress, which has slightly Wasabi-like flavour, goes so well with Beef. I recommend to cook Beef medium rare or rare just like Beef Tataki. Enjoy this dish with nice wine or chilled beer!!! Cold Sake or Shōchū are also great. (Needless to say, you can enjoy this dish without alcoholic drinks.)
Fresh Beef Fillet or Steak(s) 500g
Garlic 1 clove *grated
Salt & Papper
Oil 1/2 tablespoon
Watercress 1 bunch *140 to 150g (OR more)
Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
Salt & Pepper
Soy Sauce 1 tablespoon
Whole Grain Mustard 1 to 2 teaspoon
Vinegar 1 teaspoon *optional
Sugar 1/2 to 1 teaspoon
Sprinkle Salt, Pepper and Grate Garlic onto the Beef, and massage well.
Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat and cook Beef. I recommend to cook Beef medium rare or rare just like ‘Beef Tataki’.
Let it rest for 10 minutes. While the beef is resting, make dressing. Place all the dressing ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. The sweetness and sourness of the dressing are up to your preference. OR you may wish to use your favourite dressing.
Wash Watercress, pick sprigs and cut the stems short.
Slice the Beef thinly.
Add Watercress and Beef to the dressing in a large bowl, mix to combine and serve immedeately.
