Steam-frying in a frying pan is the easiest method to cook Broccoli. I have shared some recipes on this website. Today I added Shimeji, but other Asian Mushrooms can be used. If you haven’t tried this super easy frying pan method, you should try it once. You will love it.

Makes

2 to 4 Servings

Ingredients

1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1-2 cloves Garlic finely chopped
1 large head (about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
150g Shimeji *OR other Asian mushrooms such as Oyster Mushrooms, Shiitake, etc.
2 tablespoons Water
2 pinches Salt
Chilli Flakes as required *optional
1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce
1 tablespoon Sake (Rice Wine)

Method
  1. Drizzle Sesame Oil over a frying pan, scatter Garlic, and arrange Broccoli pieces. Cut off the bottom of Shimeji, tear into smaller pieces, and arrange them on top of the Broccoli.
  2. Sprinkle with Water, Salt and some Chilli Flakes. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
  3. While Broccoli is cooking, mix Oyster Sauce and Sake (Rice Wine) in a small bowl.
  4. When the water in the pan is evaporated, remove the lid, pour the sauce over, and stir to combine.
