Steam-frying in a frying pan is the easiest method to cook Broccoli. I have been cooking Broccoli in this method lately. I often want to add a sauce to them. I can’t think of any sauce that is easier than this one.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1 large head (*about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
1 tablespoon Oil of your choice *OR Butter
1 clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 pinch Salt
2 to 3 tablespoons Water

Sauce
1/2 cup Chicken Stock OR Stock of your choice
Salt, Pepper, Soy Sauce, Chilli, etc.
1/2 tablespoon Potato Starch OR Corn Starch

Method
  1. Place Chicken Stock (OR Stock of your choice) in a small bowl or measuring jug, and season it with Salt, Pepper, Soy Sauce, Chilli, etc. *Note: Season it well as it will be the sauce for the cooked Broccoli. Once it is seasoned, add Potato Starch (OR Corn Starch) and mix well.
  2. Drizzle Oil over a frying pan, scatter Garlic, and arrange Broccoli pieces. Sprinkle with Water and Salt. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
  3. When the water in the pan is evaporated, remove the lid, mix the sauce once again, pour it over, let the sauce thicken, and stir to combine.
