‘Goma-ae’ is a Japanese dish of vegetables dressed with ‘Goma-ae’ sauce, which is made of Toasted Sesame Seeds, Sugar and Soy Sauce. Today I added Japanese Mayonnaise to it and I reduced the amount of Sugar. Creamy ‘Goma-ae’ sauce and Asparagus are a good match.

Makes

2 Servings

Ingredients

1 bunch (150g) Asparagus
Salt for cooking

Creamy ‘Goma-ae’ Sauce
1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds *ground
1/4 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Japanese Mayonnaise

Method
  1. Trim Asparagus, cut into 3cm pieces, and blanch in salted water. Dip them into cold water and drain.
  2. Grind Toasted Sesame Seeds, add Sugar, Soy Sauce and Mayonnaise, and mix to make the sauce. Add the cooked Asparagus and combine well.
