‘Goma-ae’ is a dish of vegetables dressed with sweet sesame seed sauce. ‘Goma-ae’ is one of the most popular recipes on my website. Today I added a small can of Tuna. I have never done it before. The result was brilliant! As I seasoned Cucumber with Salt, I reduced the amount of Soy Sauce in the sauce.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1 Continental Cucumber *OR 2 Lebanese Cucumber
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 can (95g) Tuna *drained, I used Tuna in Springwater

Goma-ae Sauce
1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds *ground
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce *alter the amount to suit your taste
*Note: A little bit of Chilli or/and grated Ginger can be added.

Method
  1. Cut Cucumber in bite-size pieces. Sprinkle Salt and toss to combine, then set aside. *Note: Today I cut the Cucumber in Snake cut.
  2. To make ‘Goma-ae’ sauce, toast Sesame Seeds in a saucepan until golden, then grind until aromatic. Do not over grind. Then add Sugar and Soy Sauce, and mix well. *Note: A little bit of Chilli or/and grated Ginger can be added.
  3. Combine the Cucumber, drained Tuna and ‘Goma-ae’ Sauce.
