A fish shop in the shopping centre in Ringwood, near my house, sells marinated mussels. I love their Asian flavour but they are very pricey. So I tried to make them by myself using frozen pre-blanched shelled mussel meat. YOU MUST TRY this recipe! I would never purchase the marinated mussels again. It’s so easy and yummy yummy yummy!

Makes

4 to 6 Servings

Ingredients

Frozen Shelled Mussel Meat 500g
Sake OR White Wine 1/4 cup
Chilli Garlic Sauce 1 tablespoon
Sweet Chilli Sauce 2 tablespoons
Soy Sauce 1/2 to 1 tablespoon

Method
  1. Place Chilli Garlic Sauce, Sweet Chilli Sauce and Soy Sauce in a large bowl and mix well.

  2. Place Sake and Frozen Shelled Mussels in a pot or large sauce pan. Cook over medium to high heat, shaking occasionally, for 3 to 5 minutes.

  3. Drain and save the delicious liquid for you cooking if you like. Add the hot Mussels to the sauce, combine well.

  4. Let Mussels be marinated for at least 1 hour. I strongly recommend to keep them in fridge overnight and enjoy cold. Great with chilled beer!!!
