My Shiso plants did not grow well this summer in 2020, but I still can harvest lovely aromatic leaves. I know Shiso is hard to find for many of us, that’s why I am growing them in the garden. Basil can be used instead. Common Basil, Thai Basil, or similar fragrant herbs are all good.

Makes

20 Balls

Ingredients

500g Chicken Mince
1 small piece Ginger *grated
10 Shiso (Perilla) Leaves OR a handful Basil Leaves *sliced
1/2 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
1 to 2 tablespoons Sweet Chilli Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Salt
Finely Ground White Pepper
Oil for cooking

Method
  1. Combine all ingredients very well. Make 3cm size balls. If the mixture is very sticky, wet your hands with water will help. You should be able to make about 20 balls.
  2. Heat a small amount of Oil in a frying pan over medium low heat, cook the balls until golden all around and cooked though.
*Note: Serve with Sweet Chilli Sauce if you like.
