If you are lucky to have Shiso (Perilla), try this simple salad. You may wish to add extra ingredients such as Garlic and Chilli. But I believe a simple dressing such as ‘Ponzu’ is the best to enjoy the flavour and fragrance of Shiso. If you make this salad using Basil, add some Garlic.

Ingredients

2 to 3 Tomatoes

Dressing
4 to 6 Shiso (Perilla) Leaves *finely chopped
1/4 Red Onion *finely chopped
2 tablespoons Ponzu *OR 1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar & 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil *optional

Method
  1. Combine all the dressing ingredients.
  2. Cut Tomatoes into small pieces, place in a serving bowl, and pour the dressing over just before you serve.
  3. *Note: If you make this salad using Basil, add some Garlic and use Olive Oil instead of Sesame Oil.
