Yakisoba

Yakisoba is a very similar to Chinese stir fried noodles, and it is cooked with Vegetables and commonly Pork. The dish is seasoned with ‘Yakisoba Sauce’ which tastes like Worcestershire Sauce. Yakisoba is very simple to make and can be cooked on a large hotplate, by tossing the ingredients together as they fry.

Ingredients

500 to 600g Yakisoba Noodles *OR Thin Hokkien / Singapore Noodles
2 tablespoons Oil
200g Thinly Sliced Pork
5 to 6 leaves Cabbage
200g Bean Sprouts
1/2 to 1 Carrot
1/2 to 1 Capsicum
Salt & Pepper
Yakisoba Sauce *often comes with the Yakisoba Noodles
Aonori *Optional
Benishoga (Red Pickled Ginger) *Optional

DIY Yakisoba Sauce

Try to make the sauce by mixing following ingredients in the ratio.
2 Sake (Rice Wine)
2 Soy Sauce
1 Worcestershire Sauce
1 Oyster Sauce

Method
  1. Prepare all vegetables and pork. Cut vegetables into strips and slice Pork thinly.
  2. Heat Oil in a large frying pan or wok, cook Pork and Vegetables and season with Salt and Pepper.
  3. Once the Pork is cooked, add the Noodles and toss and mix all well.
  4. Add the sauce, toss again and sprinkle some Aonori on top and serve with some Benishoga (Pickled Ginger) if you like.
