I often cook cakes using my 10 cup capacity rice cooker which has ‘Cake’ setting and inner pot is 20cm in diameter. This is the Basic Rice Cooker Cake recipe. You can create a variety of cakes based on this recipe. Depending on the additional ingredients, I alter the amount of Flour.

I used my 10 cup capacity rice cooker which inner pot is 20cm in diameter
Ingredients
60g melted Butter OR 1/4 cup Oil
1/2 cup Caster Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
2 large Eggs
1 & 1/4 cups Self-Raising Flour
1/2 cup Milk *warmed
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Method
- Line the base of rice cooker’s inner pot with baking paper. *Note: If your inner pot is in good condition, baking paper would be unnecessary.
- Whisk all ingredients in a mixing bowl until smooth. Pour the mixture into the prepared rice cooker’s inner pot, flat the surface evenly, and start cooking at ‘Cake’ setting.
- If it is not cooked yet, leave it in the hot rice cooker for 10 more minutes or heat extra time. When it is cooked, turn out on a serving plate OR wire rack to cool, and carefully peel away baking paper. Enjoy warm OR cold.

Hey guys! I made this in my 5 cup rice cooker and it turned out great! My rice cooker a cake setting so I didn’t need to adjust the time. Also, I love that it’s a little thicker, but still fluffy and delicious! My boys love this cake! 🍰 Thank you for a wonderful and easy recipe to follow!

Hi Audrey. There is no ‘guys’ here. It’s just me. Thank you for trying the recipe. Now you can alter my recipe to suit your rice cooker. I have found softer batter cooked in my rice cooker tends to break when flipped over. And also when the batter is cold, and when extra ingredients such as fruit and nuts are added, it fails sometimes. Warm the batter, and do not add too much extra ingredients. That’s my advice.

Hi Sarah. Each rice cooker is different in size. My daughter’s 5 cup rice cooker’s inner pot is 17-18cm in diameter, and she said my recipes had worked fine. Obviously the cake would become taller if the pot is smaller. Make sure all ingredients are NOT cold, then the recipes should work in 5 cup rice cooker.
