It was rainy and cold today, and I craved Chocolate Cake. The quickest way to make a cake is microwave. Based on my ‘Instant Mug Cake’ recipe, I made this chocolate flavoured one. I used just Cocoa Powder because I didn’t have any Chocolate, but some Chocolate Chips would make this mug cake tastier.


Makes

1 Serving *I used 380ml mug

Ingredients

1 tablespoon Butter *1 tablespoon is 15ml
2 tablespoons Brown Sugar *OR White Sugar
1 very small pinch Salt
1 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
3 tablespoons Self-Raising Flour
*Note: You can add some Chocolate Chips OR chopped Chocolate.
Cream OR Ice Cream to serve

Method
  1. Place Butter in a mug, microwave for 20-30 seconds OR until Butter melts. Add Brown Sugar, Salt, Cocoa Powder and Vanilla, mix well.
  2. Add Egg and mix well, then add Self-Raising Flour, and mix well until smooth.
  3. Microwave for 60 to 90 seconds OR until cooked. Try not to over-cook it as the cake turns hard and dry. I used 1000W microwave and 80 seconds was a little too long. Enjoy Cream OR Ice Cream.
  4. *Note: The photo below is the same Mug Cake that is cooked with Gluten-Free Flour (mainly Rice Flour) and 1/4 teaspoon Baking Powder.
