I like grilled Spring Onion very much. I season it with a little bit of Salt or Soy Sauce. Have you tried it yet? You can see it at ‘Lazy Yakitori’ recipe page. I tried to cook Leek in the same way. I am glad I tried it. It was delicious. Perfect for drinking.

Makes

2 Servings

Ingredients

1 Leek
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1 pinch Salt
2 to 3 tablespoons Sake (Rice Wine) OR Water
Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)
Extra Salt OR Soy Sauce

Method
  1. Clean the Leek, especially green parts need to be carefully cleaned. Cut into 2cm thick pieces.
  2. Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan over medium low heat. Cook Leek pieces for 3-4 minutes until nicely browned. Turn them over, sprinkle with 1 pinch Salt, add Sake (Rice Wine), and cover with a lid.
  3. When Sake is evaporated and Leek pieces are nicely browned and soft, it’s done.
  4. Sprinkle with some Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix) and enjoy. You may wish to add extra Salt or a little bit of Soy Sauce.
