Teriyaki Sauce can be made with Soy Sauce, Sugar and Mirin. The sauce is very versatile and you can add extra ingredients such as Garlic, Ginger, Chilli, Vinegar, etc. Today I added Lemon. Serve this sweet and sour Teriyaki Chicken with a refreshing salad.

Makes

2 Servings

Ingredients

400g Chicken Fillets *Thigh OR Breast
Salt & Pepper (OR Chilli)
Oil for cooking
2 to 4 slices Lemon

Sauce
1 clove Garlic *grated
1 tablespoon Sugar
2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Mirin

Method
  1. Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Lightly season Chicken Fillets with Salt & Pepper (OR Chilli). Heat a small amount of Oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat, cook Chicken Fillets until nicely browned on both sides. Remove excess Oil using paper towel if you want to do so.
  3. Add the Sauce and Lemon Slices, and keep cooking, turning Chicken and Lemon over occasionally, until the Sauce thickens. *Note: Press down the Lemon slices to release the juice if you want to do so, so that the Sauce will become sour.
  4. Serve with a refreshing Salad. I added Rice as well.
