This is the Tomato based Pizza Sauce that I often make. As I always stock Tomato Paste in my pantry, this sauce is easy to make for me. I think it is slightly sweeter than store-bought Pizza Sauce as I add some Sugar. The flavour can be altered as you like. I hope this recipe would inspire you to make your own sauce.
Makes
Enough for 2 x 28cm Pizzas
Ingredients
1/2 cup Tomato Paste *about 140g
1 clove Garlic *finely grated
1 teaspoon Dry Italian Herb Mix *optional
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Olive Oil
1/4 teaspoon Salt *alter the amount to suit your taste
2 to 3 teaspoons Water *optional
Method
- Combine all ingredients except for Water in a bowl. If you want the sauce thinner, so that it would be easier to spread, add Water as required, and mix well. Today I added 2 teaspoons Water.
- *Note: The photo below is the same Pizza in the above photo, with the sauce spread, covered with shredded cheese, and baked in the very hot oven for 15 minutes.
