‘Edamame’ are young soy beans in the pod. Frozen ‘Edamame’ that are already blanched in salted water or unsalted water are available from most supermarkets and Asian grocers. Slightly salted ‘Edamame’ are very tasty, but you got to try this one. As the pods, that you don’t eat, are seasoned, you taste the Chilli & Garlic when you eat beans. This is perfect for BBQ nibbles!
4 to 6 Servings
Frozen ‘Edamame’ 400 to 500g *thawed & rinsed
Olive Oil 1/2 tablespoon
Garlic 1 clove *finely chopped
Chilli Garlic Sauce / Toban Djan (Chili Bean Sauce) 1 tablespoon *OR 1 Fresh Chilli
Soy Sauce 1 to 2 tablespoons
- Heat Oil and Garlic in a frying pan over medium-high heat. When aromatic, add Edamame, Chilli Sauce (or finely chopped Chilli) and Soy Sauce.
- If ‘Edamame’ are blanched in salted water, use less Soy Sauce as soy beans are already salty, but it is up to your preference.
- Toss and mix to combine well. No need to cook beans as they are already cooked.
