The combination of Garlic, Butter and Soy Sauce is absolutely delicious, and I cook many dishes in this flavour including Gnocchi. This is a very popular Chicken dish. Other meat and fish can also be cooked in the same way. I enjoyed it with Rice today, but it is also nice with Pasta OR Potato. Do you have Garlic, Butter and Soy Sauce? Why don’t you try it?

Makes

2 Servings

Ingredients

2 Chicken Fillets *350 to 400g, Breast OR Thigh
Salt & Pepper
1 tablespoon Potato Starch OR Corn Starch
1/2 tablespoon Oil
2 cloves Garlic *sliced
1 tablespoon Sake (Rice Wine) OR Water
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Mirin
*Note: You can add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon Sugar for sweeter flavour
10g Butter *you may wish to add more

Method
  1. Lightly season Chicken Fillets with Salt & Pepper, and coat with Potato Starch. Cut Garlic cloves into 1-2mm thick slices.
  2. Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add Garlic slices, and take them out when lightly browned. Add Chicken Fillets and cook until both sides are browned and cooked though. I recommend to cover with a lid while cooking.
  3. Remove the lid, add Sake (OR Water), Soy Sauce, Mirin (and Sugar if you add it) and Butter, and keep cooking, coating Chicken with the sauce, until the sauce thickens. *Note: If the sauce is too strong, add some more Sake (OR Water). You may wish to add extra Butter.
  4. Serve with Rice, Potato OR Pasta. I enjoyed with steamed Vegetables today.
