If you like Konnyaku (Konjac) and also ‘Katsuobushi’ (Boniot Flakes), referred as ‘Oakaka’ sometimes, you will enjoy this dish. As it is supposed to be eaten with Rice, it is strongly seasoned. This kind of food is actually makes me crave freshly cooked white Rice.
Makes
4 Servings
Ingredients
1 block (about 250g) Konnyaku (Konjac)
1/2 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1/2 tablespoon Sugar
2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Mirin
Chilli Flakes as required *optional
1 to 2 sachets (2 to 4g) Katsuobushi (Bonito Flakes)
1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Seeds
Method
- Rinse Konnyaku (Konjac) block, make lots of holes using a skewer, and cut into bite-size pieces. (I cut into 24 pieces.) Boil in water for a few minutes, then drain.
- Return the Konnyaku pieces to the saucepan. Add Sesame Oil, Sugar, Soy Sauce and Mirin (and Chilli Flakes), and cook until sauce is nearly gone. Remove from heat, add Katsuobushi (Bonito Flakes) and Toasted Sesame Seeds, and mix to combine.
