In Japan where I grew up, finely grated Apple is often prepared for elderly people who are having difficulty to swallow food, but it can be still difficult to swallow. Make it into a soft jelly, so that it would be much easier to swallow and you can taste the real Apple. This soft jelly is good for babies, too.
Makes
2 to 3 Servings
Ingredients
1 teaspoon (4g) Gelatine Powder
1 tablespoon Water
200ml Water
1 to 2 tablespoons Sugar *alter the amount to suit your taste
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Apple
Method
- Sprinkle Gelatine Powder into 1 tablespoon Water in a small bowl and set aside.
- Place 200ml Water, Sugar and Lemon Juice in a saucepan. Cut Apple into wedges, peel skin and remove the core, and finely grate them into the saucepan. Mix to combine.
- Bring to the boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook for 5 minutes OR until desired softness is achieved.
- Add the soaked Gelatine Powder, stir well, and make sure the Gelatine dissolved completely.
- Pour the mixture into serving glasses. When cool enough, place it in the fridge and leave to set, but this jelly will be very soft.
