In Japan where I grew up, finely grated Apple is often prepared for elderly people who are having difficulty to swallow food, but it can be still difficult to swallow. Make it into a soft jelly, so that it would be much easier to swallow and you can taste the real Apple. This soft jelly is good for babies, too.

Makes

2 to 3 Servings

Ingredients

1 teaspoon (4g) Gelatine Powder
1 tablespoon Water
200ml Water
1 to 2 tablespoons Sugar *alter the amount to suit your taste
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Apple

Method
  1. Sprinkle Gelatine Powder into 1 tablespoon Water in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Place 200ml Water, Sugar and Lemon Juice in a saucepan. Cut Apple into wedges, peel skin and remove the core, and finely grate them into the saucepan. Mix to combine.
  3. Bring to the boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook for 5 minutes OR until desired softness is achieved.
  4. Add the soaked Gelatine Powder, stir well, and make sure the Gelatine dissolved completely.
  5. Pour the mixture into serving glasses. When cool enough, place it in the fridge and leave to set, but this jelly will be very soft.
