When I am too tired to cook anything, a rice bowl is the go-to dish as I almost always have some Cooked Rice. Canned Fish is a life-saver, and it allows me to make a rice bowl quickly and easily. I have shared many easy rice bowl recipes on this website. Here is another one for you to try. You need a small can of Mackerel. Just mix everything together and pour it over the Cooked Rice. A delicious and nutritious meal will be ready in a few minutes.
Makes
1 Serving
Ingredients
1 tablespoon (15ml) Miso *White Miso recommended
2 tablespoons Water
1/4 teaspoon Dashi Powder *I used Kombu (Kelp) Dashi Powder
1/4 teaspoon grated Ginger
5cm Cucumber *thinly sliced
1 can (120g) Mackerel in Brine
100g Soft Tofu *I used Silken Tofu, cut OR broken into bite-size pieces
1/2 Spring Onion *finely chopped
1 serving Cooked Rice
Toasted Sesame Seeds
Method
- Place Miso, Water, Dashi Powder and Ginger in a bowl, and mix well. Add Cucumber and mix to combine.
- Drain canned Mackerel, break into bite-size pieces, add to the bowl and mix. Then add Tofu and Spring Onion, and gently combine.
- Half fill a bowl with Cooked Rice and cover it with the mixture. Sprinkle with some Toasted Sesame Seeds, and enjoy. *Note: I saved some Spring Onion and placed on top.

Hi Ash. I have no idea how the ingredients clumped together. I can only suggest to mix the ingredients in a way they won’t clumped together. How about the taste? I hope you liked it.
