I like thin and crispy Pizza base. So, when I faced a Pizza that had thick and bread-like base, I was disappointed. However, the thick bread base was cheese stuffed, and it was yummy. I still prefer thin and crispy base though. Today I made this Cheese Stuffed Bread. I cooked it with a grill pan as my oven was not working well at the moment. Actually it was a great way to cook bread, very quick and easy. You can use a frying pan.
Makes
4 Servings
Ingredients
2 cups Bread Flour
1 teaspoon Dry Yeast
1 teaspoon Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Powder *optional, if you are in a hurry
3/4 cup Warm Water
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
Cheese of your choice *e.g. Mozzarella, Swiss Cheese, Tasty Cheese, Pizza Mix, etc.
Extra Olive Oil for cooking
Method
- Place Bread Flour, Dry Yeast, Sugar, Salt and Baking Powder (*optional) in a mixing bowl, and blend well. Add Warm Water and Olive Oil, mix well, and knead, adding extra Flour if required, until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a plate OR plastic wrap, and set aside in a warm place for 30 minutes, OR 60 minutes if you didn’t add Baking Powder.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll out into a very large oblong. *Note: You can divide the dough into 2 portions and make two oblongs.
- Cover a half of the dough with Cheese (*sliced OR shredded), fold the dough in half and seal the edges well. *Note: If you use shredded cheese, gently press the dough and remove the air.
- Place it in a warm place for 20 to 30 minutes if you are not in a hurry.
- Heat a grill pan OR frying pan over high heat, then reduce to low heat. Oil the the pan and cook, covered if you can, for 5 minutes each side. *Note: I used a sheet of baking paper to cover.
- *Note: Alternatively, you can bake it in the oven at 220℃ for 8 to 10 minutes OR until golden. Drizzle some Olive Oil over the dough before baking.
