‘Ponzu’ is a super versatile sauce and it can be used as a salad dressing, too. I often add a small amount of Oil to it. Add Ginger, Onion and Toasted Sesame Seeds as well for extra flavours. Because I always have a bottle of ‘Ponzu’, this dressing is super quick and easy for me to make. If you don’t have ‘Ponzu’, make ‘Quick & Easy Ponzu’.
6 Servings (about 90ml)
1/4 cup ‘Ponzu’ *OR make ‘Quick & Easy Ponzu’
1 tablespoon Oil *e.g. Sesame Oil, Canola Oil, etc.
1/2 teaspoon grated Ginger
1 to 2 teaspoons very finely chopped OR grated Onion
1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Seeds *lightly ground
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Sugar *alter the amount to suit your taste
Quick & Easy ‘Ponzu’ (1/4 cup)
1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar
1 tablespoon Lemon (Yuzu OR Sudachi) Juice
2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
1/2 tablespoon Mirin
1 pinch Katsuo (Bonito) OR Kombu (Kelp) Dashi Powder
- If you don’t have ‘Ponzu’, make Quick & Easy ‘Ponzu’ by mixing all the ingredients.
- Mix ‘Ponzu’ and other ingredients very well. *Note: Alter the amount of Sugar to suit your taste. You may prefer no additional Sugar at all.
