This is another super quick and easy dish that is perfect for my lunch. Today I used leftover Beef Mince, but naturally you can use thinly sliced Beef. Pork is also good. Garlic Chives is garlicky, but I recommend to add Garlic as well. It’s a very simple dish, yet really yummy with Rice.
Makes
1 Serving
Ingredients
100g Beef Mince
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
30-40g Garlic Chives (Nira) *cut into 2-3 cm
1 serving Cooked Rice *warmed
Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix) OR Ground Chilli
Sauce
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce *1 tablespoon is 15ml
1 tablespoon Mirin
1/2 teaspoon Sugar *optional
Method
- In a small bowl, combine the Sauce ingredients. Sugar is optional. Add it if you like the sauce sweeter.
- Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan over medium high heat and cook Beef Mince and Garlic. When the Beef Mince changed the colour, add Garlic Chives and the Sauce, and stir until combined well.
- Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice and cover it with the Beef mixture. Sprinkle with some Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix) and enjoy.
