This is a super quick and easy recipe to make Bread Rolls. You don’t need Yeast, but you need Baking Powder. As the dough is made with Yoghurt, it has sour flavour similar to Sourdough Bread. If you like Sourdough Bread, you will enjoy these heavy, moist and sour Yoghurt Bread Rolls.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1 & 1/2 cups (plus extra 2 to 4 tablespoons) Unsweetened Greek Yoghurt *at room temperature
2 cups Bread Flour *plus extra for kneading
3 teaspoons Baking Powder
*Note: You can use 2 cups Self-Raising Flour instead, but the texture will be similar to scones. DO NOT add Baking Powder if you use Self-Raising Flour.
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Caster Sugar

Method
  1. Leave Greek Yoghurt at room temperature as it shouldn’t be too cold. Preheat oven to 200℃. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Place Bread Flour, Baking Powder, Salt and Sugar in a mixing bowl, and blend very well. Add Greek Yoghurt, mix to combine, add extra Yoghurt as required, and bring the mixture together to form a soft dough. *Note: I added extra 3 tablespoons Yoghurt today.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, shape into a ball, divide into 4 portions, and roll each portion into a ball. *Note: You can divide into 6 to 8 portions and make smaller rolls.
  4. Place the balls of dough on the prepared tray, flatten slightly, and bake for 20 minutes OR until golden and hollow when tapped. *Note: If the rolls are smaller, alter the baking time.
