
When I serve Japanese style dinner, I always serve a small plate of vegetable along with Rice, Soup and Main Dish. It is supposed to be a simple vegetable dish, such as pickled vegetable OR ‘Aemono’, Japanese style salad. This is a simple dish of Celery. The flavour should be subtle and refreshing.

Ingredients
2 to 3 Celery Stalks *about 150g
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Kombu (Kelp) Dashi Powder
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1/4 teaspoon Soy Sauce
Chilli OR Chilli Flakes as required *optional
Toasted Sesame Seeds
Method
- Thinly slice Celery Stalks diagonally. Place in a mixing bowl, add Salt, and mix to combine.
- And Kombu (Kelp) Dashi Powder, Chilli, Sesame Oil and Soy Sauce, mix well. Set aside for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with some Toasted Sesame Seeds and serve.
