I want to encourage all people who hate Celery to try this salad. The mixture of Tuna and Japanese Mayonnaise with a little bit of Soy Sauce is absolutely delicious with many vegetables, and certainly it is with Celery. You can add Lettuce, Cucumber OR other salad vegetables to this salad to make the flavour less overwhelming if you are afraid to try.
Makes
3 to 4 Servings
Ingredients
2 to 3 Celery Stalks *200 to 250g
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1/6 to 1/4 Red Onion *thinly sliced
1 can (95g) Tuna *I used Tuna in Springwater
1 pinch Salt *if Tuna is not salted
2 tablespoons Japanese Mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon Soy Sauce
Black Pepper
Method
- Thinly slice Celery Stalks and place in a mixing bowl. Add Salt, mix well, and set aside.
- Thinly slice Red Onion and add to the mixing bowl.
- Drain canned Tuna and add to the mixing bowl. Add a pinch Salt to Tuna if Tuna is not salted.
- Add Japanese Mayonnaise, Soy Sauce and Black Pepper, freshly ground if possible, and mix to combine.

Thank you for responding! I tried this salad and I really love it, I’m going to make this more often for my weekly lunches! I also drained the celery a little after waiting a few minutes, after step 1. I thought it might help absorb a little more soy sauce, especially as I was making ahead. I think it would be most delicious fresh however.
Thank you again!

You used very juicy celery if you could drain excess water. I am very happy to know you enjoyed this dish.
Yum
