I recently discovered that a local Asian grocery store is selling super thinly sliced Beef. The Beef slices are frozen and in tube shape. Using those super thinly sliced Beef, this ‘Beef & Egg Rice Bowl’ is quick and easy to prepare.

Makes

Ingredients

100 to 120g thinly sliced Pork *cut into bite-size pieces
1 thick Spring Onion *sliced diagonally
1 Egg *whisked
1 Serving warm Cooked Rice
Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)

1/4 cup Dashi Stock *OR 1/4 cup Water & 1/8 teaspoon Dashi Powder
1/2 tablespoon Sugar * add extra if required

1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
*Note: Some grated Ginger OR Garlic can be added

Method
  1. Place the Sauce ingredients in a small frying pan and bring to the boil. Scatter Beef and sliced Spring Onion, and cook until Beef is cooked. It won’t take long.
  2. Pour the whisked Egg to cover, and cook until Egg is softly set OR half cooked. DO NOT stir.
  3. Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice and cover it with the Beef and Egg mixture. Sprinkle with some Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix), and enjoy.
