I recently discovered that a local Asian grocery store is selling super thinly sliced Beef. The Beef slices are frozen and in tube shape. Using those super thinly sliced Beef, this ‘Beef & Egg Rice Bowl’ is quick and easy to prepare.
100 to 120g thinly sliced Pork *cut into bite-size pieces
1 thick Spring Onion *sliced diagonally
1 Egg *whisked
1 Serving warm Cooked Rice
Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)
1/4 cup Dashi Stock *OR 1/4 cup Water & 1/8 teaspoon Dashi Powder
1/2 tablespoon Sugar * add extra if required
1/2 tablespoon Mirin
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
*Note: Some grated Ginger OR Garlic can be added
- Place the Sauce ingredients in a small frying pan and bring to the boil. Scatter Beef and sliced Spring Onion, and cook until Beef is cooked. It won’t take long.
- Pour the whisked Egg to cover, and cook until Egg is softly set OR half cooked. DO NOT stir.
- Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice and cover it with the Beef and Egg mixture. Sprinkle with some Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix), and enjoy.
