Nattō, fermented Soy Beans, is a very nutritious and healthy food, but many people hate it because of its smell. I have shared many Nattō recipes on this website. Here is another one you can try. It’s a Spicy Fried Rice cooked with Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce). As Toban Djan is quite salty, DO NOT add too much Soy Sauce. 1 teaspoon is maximum.

Makes

1 Serving

Ingredients

80g thinly sliced Pork *OR Chicken, Beef, etc.
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 to 2 teaspoons Sesame Oil *OR Oil of your choice
Salt & White Pepper
1 thick Spring Onion *chopped
1 serving warm Cooked Rice
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce) *OR other Chilli Sauce
1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
1 container Nattō

*Note: Some Kimchi can be added.

Method
  1. Cut Pork (OR other meat) into small bite-size pieces. Chop up Garlic and Spring Onion. Mix Nattō with sauce and mustard that should be included in the container. Prepare everything before you start cooking.
  2. Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium high heat and cook Pork and Garlic. When Pork is cooked, very lightly season with Salt & White Pepper, then add Cooked Rice, Spring Onion, Toban Djan and Soy Sauce, and stir to combine.
  3. Add Nattō, stir to combine, and it is done. Enjoy with a refreshing salad. Today I added Lettuce & Cucumber Salad.
