Cherry Jam can be made with canned Pitted Cherries. The other day, when I needed Cherry Jam to make a dessert, the Cherry Jam left in the jar was not enough. Someone must have eaten it. I didn’t want to drive to a store, I made jam with a can of Pitted Cherries as I found the ingredients of the canned Pitted Cherries were Cherries, Water and Sugar. I added some extra Sugar and cook it until it turns into a jam. I tried to break the Cherries, but you don’t have to do so.
Makes
About 190ml
Ingredients
1 can (425g) Pitted Cherries in Syrup
*Note: I had 280g Cherries and 110ml Syrup from 1 can.
1/4 cup Sugar *OR add more to suit your taste
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
Method
- Empty the can of Pitted Cherries into a saucepan. Add Sugar and Lemon Juice, and bring to the boil.
- Cook over medium low heat, breaking Cherries coarsely if you wish to do so, until desired consistency is achieved. Stir frequently when it is getting thick. *Note: Jam will thicken slightly when it cools.
