Cherry Jam can be made with canned Pitted Cherries. The other day, when I needed Cherry Jam to make a dessert, the Cherry Jam left in the jar was not enough. Someone must have eaten it. I didn’t want to drive to a store, I made jam with a can of Pitted Cherries as I found the ingredients of the canned Pitted Cherries were Cherries, Water and Sugar. I added some extra Sugar and cook it until it turns into a jam. I tried to break the Cherries, but you don’t have to do so.

Makes

About 190ml

Ingredients

1 can (425g) Pitted Cherries in Syrup
*Note: I had 280g Cherries and 110ml Syrup from 1 can.
1/4 cup Sugar *OR add more to suit your taste
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

Method
  1. Empty the can of Pitted Cherries into a saucepan. Add Sugar and Lemon Juice, and bring to the boil.
  2. Cook over medium low heat, breaking Cherries coarsely if you wish to do so, until desired consistency is achieved. Stir frequently when it is getting thick. *Note: Jam will thicken slightly when it cools.
