Butter Cream is often used for decorating cakes and pastries. This is the most basic Butter Cream recipe. Remember that Butter Cream will harden as it cools. *Note: This cake is made by my daughter Sachi.


125g Butter *softened
1 pinch Salt *if you use Unsalted Butter
1 & 1/2 cups Icing Sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons Cream OR Milk *You don’t need to use it all.

  1. Beat softened Butter in a large bowl, add half of the Icing Sugar and beat until smooth.
  2. Add the remaining Icing Sugar and beat until smooth. Then you can add Cream OR Milk to achieve the creaminess that you want.
  3. *Note: You can add a few drops Food Colouring. You can add flavours such as Vanilla Extract, Cocoa Powder, Matcha Powder, melted White/Dark Chocolate, Citrus Zest & Juice, etc. Use Cream OR Milk to loosen.
