Using my pan-steam-frying method, cooking Broccoli is quick and easy. If you coarsely chop up, it can be cooked in a few minutes. Just a few tablespoons Water does the magic. I add Bacon but it is optional as it can be vegetarian. This dish can be cooked with OR without Cream. You can add some Chilli as well.

Makes

1 Serving

Ingredients

1 serving Spaghetti
Salt for Cooking Spaghetti
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
1 rasher Bacon *about 40g
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
Chilli Flakes as required *optional
1/2 head Broccoli *about 100g
2 to 3 tablespoons Water
Salt & Black Pepper
1 to 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 cup Thickened Cream *optional

Method
  1. Cook Spaghetti in boiling salted water according to the instruction on the package.
  2. Cut Bacon into small pieces. Coarsely chop up Broccoli, so that it would be cooked quickly, but you may cut into small florets.
  3. Heat Olive Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, and cook Bacon pieces until nicely browned. Add Garlic and Broccoli (and Chilli if you add any), add Water, cover with a lid, and cook until water is evaporated.
  4. If you add Cream, add it now. (You can add some grated Parmesan as well.) Then add cooked Spaghetti with some salted water that has been cooking Spaghetti, and mix to combine. Add some Salt and Black Pepper if required, but you probably don’t need extra Salt.
  5. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan Cheese on top and enjoy.
  6. *Note: The photo below is the same dish, that was cooked with Chilli but no Cream.
