I would be happy if I was served this dish at a restaurant. However, I am not willing to pay a lot of money for it as it is easy to cook at home. You only need a small can of Sardines in Olive Oil. Add Garlic, Lemon Juice, Whole Grain Mustard and Rocket. It won’t cost you too much.

1 serving Spaghetti
Salt for cooking Spaghetti
1 can (120g) Sardines in Olive Oil
1 small clove Garlic *grated
1/8 teaspoon Salt *alter the amount to suit your taste
Ground Black Pepper OR Chilli
1 teaspoon Whole Grain Mustard
2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
1 handful Baby Rocket
1 slice Lemon *optional

  1. Cook Spaghetti in boiling salted water according to the instruction on the package.
  2. Drain the canned Sardines and place the oil and juice in a heat-proof mixing bowl. Add Garlic, cover with a plate, and microwave for 1 minute OR until boiled.
  3. Add Salt, Black Pepper (OR Chilli), Mustard and Lemon Juice, and mix to combine. Break Sardines into the size that is easy to eat if large, and add to the bowl.
  4. Add drained cooked Spaghetti and Baby Rocket, and mix to combine. Sprinkled with extra Black Pepper if you like, and enjoy. *Note: I added a slice of Lemon, which smell takes this dish to next level.
