The other day, I wanted to make Pistachio Ice Cream. To make it, I needed Pistachio Paste. I looked for it at stores and I was shocked! It was extremely expensive. So, I decided to make it. I soaked the Pistachio kernels in water to soften, so that it would be easy to remove the brown tough skin. Then I processed them into paste. I added some Sugar and 1 pinch Salt. How simple It is!
Makes
110g
Ingredients
50g Pistachio Kernels
Hot Water to soak Pistachio Kernels
1 pinch Salt
2 tablespoons Sugar *OR as required
2 tablespoons Water *OR Milk
Method
- Place Pistachio Kernels in a bowl, cover with hot water, and soak for 1 hour.
- Drain Pistachio Kernels and remove brown tough skin. I had about 60g Kernels after skin removed.
- Add Salt and Sugar, and use a small food processor OR grinder to process into paste, adding Water OR Milk gradually, until desired texture is achieved. Today I added 2 tablespoons Water.
- *Note: You may prefer adding Oil and Cheese for savoury flavoured paste.
