This is a Spaghetti version of my ‘Tuna Udon’. You need 1 small can of Tuna, Onion and Spaghetti to cook this. If you add some other vegetables, you can make it more nutritious. If you are living on a tight budget, I strongly recommend you to stock some Canned Fish, Rice and Pasta. You can cook a variety of yummy and nutritious dishes using them.

Makes

1 Serving

Ingredients

1 serving Spaghetti
Salt for cooking Spaghetti
1/4 Onion *thinly sliced
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon Chilli Flakes
1/2 tablespoon Oil
1 can (95g) Tuna *I used Tuna in Springwater
Finely chopped Spring Onion
Crispy Chilli Oil *optional

Sauce
3 tablespoons Hot Water *Hot tap water is good
1/8 teaspoon Dashi Powder
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1/2 tablespoon Mirin *OR 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
*Note: If you use the Salted Water that is cooking Spaghetti instead of Hot Water, you should reduce the amount of Soy Sauce as the Sauce will become extra salty.

Method
  1. Cook Spaghetti in boiling salted water according to the instruction on the package.
  2. Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  3. When Spaghetti are nearly cooked, heat Oil and Garlic in a frying pan, add Onion and Chilli, and cook until Onion is soft. Add Tuna and the Sauce, and bring to the boil, stirring.
  4. Add cooked Spaghetti and toss and mix all well. Sprinkle chopped Spring Onion on top, add some Crispy Chilli Oil for extra spiciness if you like, and enjoy.
