Steam-frying using a frying pan is my favourite method to cook Broccoli. This ‘Cheesy Sauce’ is absolutely easy to make. This can be a great side dish, but I actually often cook it for my lunch.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1 large head (*about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
1 clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 tablespoon Oil of your choice
2 pinches Salt
2 to 3 tablespoons Water

Cheesy Sauce
10g Butter
1 tablespoon Plain Flour
1/2 cup Milk
2 tablespoons grated Tasty Cheese OR Parmesan Cheese
Salt & Black Pepper

Method
  1. Drizzle Oil over a frying pan and arrange Broccoli pieces. Sprinkle with Garlic, Water and Salt. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
  2. When the Water is evaporated, remove the lid and stir-fry until slightly browned. Transfer to a serving plate.
  3. Meanwhile, make Cheesy Sauce. Melt Butter in a small saucepan over medium low heat, add Flour and stir. Add Milk, bring to the boil, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Add Cheese and season with Salt and Black Pepper.
  4. Pour the Cheesy Sauce over the Broccoli, add extra Black Pepper if you like it, and serve.
