Steam-frying using a frying pan is my favourite method to cook Broccoli. This ‘Cheesy Sauce’ is absolutely easy to make. This can be a great side dish, but I actually often cook it for my lunch.
Makes
4 Servings
Ingredients
1 large head (*about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
1 clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 tablespoon Oil of your choice
2 pinches Salt
2 to 3 tablespoons Water
Cheesy Sauce
10g Butter
1 tablespoon Plain Flour
1/2 cup Milk
2 tablespoons grated Tasty Cheese OR Parmesan Cheese
Salt & Black Pepper
Method
- Drizzle Oil over a frying pan and arrange Broccoli pieces. Sprinkle with Garlic, Water and Salt. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- When the Water is evaporated, remove the lid and stir-fry until slightly browned. Transfer to a serving plate.
- Meanwhile, make Cheesy Sauce. Melt Butter in a small saucepan over medium low heat, add Flour and stir. Add Milk, bring to the boil, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Add Cheese and season with Salt and Black Pepper.
- Pour the Cheesy Sauce over the Broccoli, add extra Black Pepper if you like it, and serve.
