This is a great way to save your old Apples that have turned wrinkly and spongy. Of course, you can cook fresh ones. Since I started cooking Broccoli in the pan-steam-frying method, I am cooking many things in the same way. The frying pan method works for savoury Vegetables, why not for sweet Fruit?

Ingredients

2 Apples *Not-so-great Apples are perfectly suitable!
1/4 to 1/2 cup Water
*Note: If Apple are cut into smaller pieces, you would need much less Water. Try with 2-3 tablespoons, then add extra if required.
1 tablespoon Sugar *optional
2 to 3 tablespoons Sultanas *optional

Method
  1. Wash Apples, remove the core and cut into wedges. Today I cut each Apple into 12 wedges. Arrange them in a non-stick frying pan in a single layer.
  2. Add Water, sprinkle with Sugar (if you add it), you may wish to add Sultanas, cover with a lid, and cook over medium heat until water is gone. If Apple is not soft enough, add extra Water and cook for extra minutes.
  3. *Note: Some Apples get soft very quickly. You need to alter the amount of Water.
*Note: I cut Royal Gala Apples into smaller pieces in the photo below and I added 3 tablespoons Water.
  4. After Water is gone, you can keep cooking until Apple is slightly caramelised if you prefer. Enjoy the pan-stewed Apple with Cream, Ice Cream OR Custard. You can add it to Cereal, Porridge, etc.
