Steam-frying in a frying pan is the easiest method to cook Broccoli. I have shared some recipes on this website. Today I added Shimeji, but other Asian Mushrooms can be used. If you haven’t tried this super easy frying pan method, you should try it once. You will love it.
Makes
2 to 4 Servings
Ingredients
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1-2 cloves Garlic finely chopped
1 large head (about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
150g Shimeji *OR other Asian mushrooms such as Oyster Mushrooms, Shiitake, etc.
2 tablespoons Water
2 pinches Salt
Chilli Flakes as required *optional
1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce
1 tablespoon Sake (Rice Wine)
Method
- Drizzle Sesame Oil over a frying pan, scatter Garlic, and arrange Broccoli pieces. Cut off the bottom of Shimeji, tear into smaller pieces, and arrange them on top of the Broccoli.
- Sprinkle with Water, Salt and some Chilli Flakes. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- While Broccoli is cooking, mix Oyster Sauce and Sake (Rice Wine) in a small bowl.
- When the water in the pan is evaporated, remove the lid, pour the sauce over, and stir to combine.
