Cos Lettuce is so good with Asian flavoured dressing. I tend to add Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce) because I always have it in the fridge and I like its spiciness. If you like spicy salad, you can add Fresh Chilli, Dry Chilli Flakes, Ground Chilli, Gochujang (Korean Spicy Miso), etc. Sushi Nori is important in this salad. Mix it in just before you eat the salad.
1 Cos Lettuce (Romaine Lettuce) *200 to 300g
1/4 Red Onion *thinly sliced
1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds
2 sheets Nori (Seaweed Sheet)
1/2 to 1 clove Garlic *grated
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Rice Vinegar
1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce) *OR Fresh Chilli, Dry Chilli Flakes, Ground Chilli, Gochujang (Korean Spicy Miso), etc.
- Wash Cos Lettuce and remove excess water. Cut into about 2cm pieces.
- Combine all the Dressing ingredients in a large bowl, add Lettuce, thinly sliced Onion and Toasted Sesame Seeds, and mix well.
- Toast Nori sheets over flames and tear them into small pieces and sprinkle them on top of the salad. Just before you eat, mix well and enjoy.
