I like Ham & Egg on Toast. And I like Ham & Egg on Rice, too. Ham & Egg on Rice is a super easy dish and actually quite popular. The easiest and most popular version is probably Ham & Egg on Rice with Soy Sauce. With an extra small effort, you can bring this simple dish to next level. Add a little bit of Garlic and Mirin to Soy Sauce.

A few slices Smoked Ham
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Oil
1 serving warm Cooked Rice
Crispy Chilli Oil *optional but highly recommended
Finely chopped Spring Onion

1/2 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1/2 tablespoon Mirin
1 small clove Garlic *grated

  1. Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Cut Ham slices into the size that is easy to eat. Heat Oil in a small frying pan over medium low heat, arrange Ham pieces, place Egg in centre, cover with a lid, and cook until Egg White turns white.
  3. Pour the sauce over the edges and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice, place Ham & Egg on top, and pour all the sauce. Add some Crispy Chilli Oil, sprinkle with finely chopped Spring Onion, and enjoy.
