Just like Coffee Syrup, you can use this bitter Matcha Syrup for Cakes, mix in Drinks, drizzle over Ice Cream, Dango Dumplings, Panna Cotta, Cheesecake, and many other desserts. This recipe makes fairly strong Matcha Syrup. Alter the amount of Matcha Powder to suit your taste.
1/4 cup Water
1/4 cup Catser Sugar
1 teaspoon Matcha Powder *reduce the amount to suit your taste
1 teaspoon Rum, Grand Marnier, Brandy, etc. *optional
- Place Water, Caster Sugar and Matcha Powder in a small saucepan and mix well. *Note: You may wish to add your favourite Liqueur.
- Bring it to the boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and simmer for a few minutes or until the syrup thickens slightly. Remove from the heat. Cool completely before use.
