On the other day, when my daughter had the flu, she wanted to eat Creme Caramel. I didn’t want to drive to a supermarket, so I made it using microwave. As it was unexpectedly so successful, I am now writing down the method. This is super easy and quick. If you ever crave this dessert, you should try it.
1 tablespoon Caster Sugar
1 teaspoon Water
1 & 1/2 tablespoons Caster Sugar
1/2 cup Full Cream Milk
Vanilla Extract *optional
- Place Sugar and Water in a ramekin or mug. Cook in the microwave at 600W power for 2 minutes (OR 1 minute at 1100W). Then carefully cook further until it turns brown. Set aside and cool. The caramel will harden.
- While the caramel is cooling, mix Egg, Caster Sugar, Milk and a few drops Vanilla in a small bowl until well combined and smooth. Pour the mixture over the caramel, that is probably still warm.
- Cook in the microwave at 600W (OR 50% power) power for 2 minutes. Then carefully cook further until it sets. Set aside and cool, then chill in the fridge. Turn out onto a deep plate.
Love this recipe.
Tried it and had 100% success.
Word of caution, another website tries the “gatekeeper” mentaiity to try and force membership in order to view your complete recipe method.
Congratulations and many thanks Hiroko for providing this great recipe with no strings attached.
If this is my business, I would attach every string to make a profit! I am doing this as my hobby that has become my lifetime project. Thank you for your kind comment.

Can you make the caramel without full cream milk?
Caramel in this recipe is basically burnt sugar.
