Many people cook this dish in the oven, but I don’t want to heat up the oven just to make this dish. Pan-frying is more energy-efficient. The top of the cheese won’t get browned when cooked in a frying pan, but the bottom gets browned. For an everyday meal, this is good enough for me.
Makes
3 to 4 Servings
Ingredients
2 bunches Asparagus *about 300g
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
1 clove Garlic *finely chopped
Salt & Black Pepper
2 tablespoons Water
1 handful grated Tasty Cheese (Cheddar)
Method
- Trim Asparagus and cut in half. Finely chop up Garlic.
- Drizzle Olive Oil over a frying pan and arrange Asparagus pieces. Scatter with chopped Garlic. Sprinkle with Water, and Salt & Pepper. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- When the water in the pan is evaporated, remove the lid, and stir to combine. Then rearrange them in a single layer, scatter Cheese, cover with the lid, and cook for a few minutes until Cheese melts.
- Remove the lid, and cook until slightly browned. Sprinkle with extra Black Pepper and serve.
