Today I seasoned this Red Cabbage Salad with my Garlic Sesame Dressing, that I most frequently use fo salads. You can replace Garlic with Ginger, OR you may wish to use both. This Cabbage Salad can be a great side dish. Make it a few hours before you serve it, so that Red Cabbage will soften and the salad tastes better.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1/8 Red Cabbage *250 to 300g
1 small Carrot
1/6 Red Onion
1 pinch Salt

Garlic Sesame Dressing
1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds *lightly ground
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar *OR Vinegar of your choice
1/2 tablespoon Sugar
2 to 3 teaspoons Sesame Oil
1 small clove Garlic *grated, OR 1/4 teaspoon grated Ginger, you can use both
Chilli Flakes as required *optional

Method
  1. Combine the Dressing ingredients in a mixing bowl. The amount of each Ingredient is just a suggestion. Alter the amount to suit your taste.
  2. *Note: I usually grind Sesame Seeds in Suribachi (Japanese Mortar), but you can grind Toasted Sesame Seeds using a plastic bag.
  3. Thinly slice Red Cabbage and Red Onion. Cut Carrot into thin strips. Using vegetable slicers, the preparation is quick and easy. Add all vegetables to the Dressing in the mixing bowl, add 1 pinch Salt, and mix well to combine.
