Rhubarb Sauce is very simple to make. This is the basic recipe and you can easily multiply it. To achieve the desired consistency of the sauce, please add extra Water after the Rhubarb is cooked and the mixture is thickened.
Makes
125ml (1/2 cup)
Ingredients
2 stalks (100g) Rhubarb *thinly sliced OR cut into small pieces
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Water *plus extra
2 tablespoons Sugar *add extra to suit your taste
*Note: You can use Orange Juice instead of Water, OR add a small amount of Vanilla Extract OR Salt, etc.
Method
- Place Rhubarb, Water and Sugar in a small saucepan, heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook until Rhubarb is soft.
- Add extra Water to achieve the desired consistency. Today I added extra 1 tablespoon. You may wish to add extra Sugar as well.
- Enjoy Rhubarb Sauce with cakes, pancakes, ice cream, yoghurt, etc.
