Seasoned Kombu (Kelp), that is often called ‘Shio Kombu’ (塩昆布) in Japanese, is very handy to have in the pantry. Because it is very strongly seasoned, it can be used as a seasoning. Today I just mixed it with Cucumber, and this yummy dish was ready to serve in a few minutes.
Makes
3 to 4 Servings
Ingredients
1 Continental Cucumber *about 300g
1 pinch Salt
2 lightly packed tablespoonfuls Seasoned Kombu (Kelp) *about 10g
1/2 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
Method
- Cut Cucumber into bite-size pieces, place in a mixing bowl, add 1 pinch Salt, and mix to combine.
- Add Seasoned Kombu (Kelp), Sesame Seeds and Sesame Oil, mix to combine, and set aside until Kombu softens, but you can serve it immediately.
