If you have tried my ‘Sweet Sour Chicken with Tartar Sauce’, you know that the sweet soy sauce flavour goes well with Tartar Sauce. This is an easier version of the dish and you don’t need to deep-fry Chicken. It is almost identical to my ‘Teriyaki Chicken’. Enjoy this delicious combination.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

600 to 800g Chicken Thighs
Salt
1 tablespoon Oil

Sour Teriyaki Sauce
2 tablespoons Mirin
2 tablespoons Sugar
4 tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar

Tartar Sauce
2 tablespoons finely chopped Onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped Pickled Gherkin or Cucumber
1 Boiled Egg
1 tablespoon finely chopped Parsley
4 tablespoons Japanese Mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Whole-grain Mustard
Black Pepper

Method
  1. Make Tartar Sauce first. Chop up the Boiled Egg and mix with all other ingredients. Keep in the fridge until Chicken is cooked.
  2. Make Sour Teriyaki Sauce by combining all the ingredients in a small bowl. You can alter the amount of each ingredient to suit your taste.
  3. Lightly season Chicken with Salt. Heat Oil in a frying pan, and cook Chicken until golden. Remove excess Oil using paper towel if you want to do so, then pour the Sour Teriyaki Sauce over and keep cooking until the sauce thickens.
  4. Serve with Tartar Sauce.
