I use the mixture of Canned Tuna and Japanese Mayonnaise for many dishes such as Sushi, Rice Bowl, Onigiri (Rice Balls), etc. If it is for a rice dish, I definitely add a small amount of Soy Sauce. If it is for a sandwich, there are three things I want to add, and they are Red Onion, Dill Pickled Cucumber and Celery. And I like to use toasted Bread because it makes a huge difference in flavour and texture.

Makes

1 Serving

Ingredients

1 can (95g) Tuna *I use Tuna in Springwater
1 pinch Salt
Ground Black Pepper as required
1/2 to 1 tablespoon thinly sliced Celery
1/2 to 1 tablespoon finely chopped Red Onion
1/2 to 1 tablespoon finely OR coarsely chopped Dill Pickled Cucumber
2 tablespoons Mayonnaise *I use Japanese Mayonnaise
2 slices Bread
Butter
Iceberg Lettuce

Method
  1. Drain and remove excess water from Tuna, and place in a bowl. Add Salt and Black Pepper, and mix to combine.
  2. Add Celery, Red Onion, Dill Pickled Cucumber and Mayonnaise, and mix well. *Note: If you use a different type of Pickled Cucumber that is not sour, a small amount of Lemon Juice OR Vinegar can improve the flavour.
  3. Toast two slices of Bread if you like, lightly Butter them, and sandwich some Lettuce and the Tuna mixture.
