Turkish food is very popular in Melbourne where I live. I wonder why I didn’t know this ‘Turkish Poached Egg & Yoghurt’ until now. Have you ever tried it before? If you haven’t, try it today. It is seriously delicious! You need good quality crusty bread to enjoy it. This recipe should be enough for two people, but there is a big chance that you would want more.

Makes

2 Servings

Ingredients

1/2 cup Unsweetened Yoghurt *I used Unsweetened Greek Yoghurt
1 small clove Garlic *grated
Salt to taste *I added 1/8 teaspoon
1 Poached Egg
Dill *chopped, other Herbs can be used
Crusty Bread to serve

Chilli Oil
1 tablespoon Olive Oil *other Oil OR Butter can be used
1/2 teaspoon Chilli Flakes
1/4 teaspoon Ground Paprika *optional

Method
  1. To make Chilli Oil, combine Olive Oil, Chilli Flakes and Paprika (*optional) in a small heat-proof bowl, and heat in the microwave until hot. DO NOT make it too hot as Chilli and Paprika would burn.
  2. Combine Unsweetened Yoghurt and grated Garlic, season with Salt, and mix well. Place in a serving bowl.
  3. Cook a Poached Egg. *Note: It might be a good idea to cook 2 Poached Eggs if this is going to be shared with 2 people.
  4. Place the Poached Egg on the Yoghurt, drizzle with Chilli Oil, sprinkle with some chopped Dill and a pinch Salt, and serve with crusty bread.
