Today I cooked this rice bowl to use up leftover Pork Mince. I usually use Garlic Chives for this dish, but Garlic Chives are not easy to find where I live. Spring Onion is an easy substitute. A quick and easy meal, that is delicious, nutritious, inexpensive, and very comforting.
Makes
1 Serving
Ingredients
100 to 125g Pork Mince
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
1 Spring Onion *finely chopped, OR use Garlic Chives as required
1 Egg *whisked
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
Salt & White Pepper
1/2 tablespoon Potato Starch *mixed with 1/2 tablespoon Water
1 serving warm Cooked Rice
Sauce
1/2 cup Chicken Stock *OR 1/2 cup Water & 1/2 teaspoon Asian Chicken Bouillon Powder
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon Oyster Sauce
Method
- Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Mix Potato Starch with Water in a separate small bowl. Prepare all ingredients before you start cooking.
- Heat Oil in a small frying pan over medium heat, and cook Pork Mince and Garlic. When the Pork Mince chages colour, add Spring Onion (OR Garlic Chives) and stir, then lightly season with Salt & White Pepper.
- Add the Soup and bring to the boil. Mix Potato Starch and Water, and gradually add to the pan, stirring constantly. When the soup is thickened, add Egg in a circular motion into the boiling mixture, then gently stir.
- Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice and cover it with the Pork mixture, and enjoy.
