I have Garlic Chives growing in the garden and also in a pot. This plant is very tough and never dies. It just spreads and grows. Today I picked some and cooked with Pork Mince. I often season with Oyster Sauce, but I used Gochujang (Korean Spicy Miso) and Soy Sauce today. It was a simple stir-fry. I made it into a rice bowl as I always eat it with Rice. Ahhh… it was yummy.

1 Serving

125g Pork Mince
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1 small clove Garlic *finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon grated Ginger
30g Garlic Chives (Nira) *cut into 1-2cm pieces
1 serving warm Cooked Rice
1 softly cooked Egg OR 1 Egg Yolk *I cook the Egg in the microwave
Crispy Chilli Oil *optional

1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Gochujang (Korean Spicy Miso) *OR more to suit your taste
1 tablespoon Soy Sauce *1 tablespoon is 15ml
1 tablespoon Mirin

  1. Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan, cook Pork Mince, Garlic and Ginger over medium heat. When cooked, add Garlic Chives and the Sauce, and stir until Garlic Chives are soft. DO NOT over cook.
  3. Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice, cover with the mixture, add Egg and Crispy Chilli Oil, and enjoy.
